More than Brain Breaks

In my research we saw that using movement to teach was so much more than brain breaks. Movement got students excited about learning, and they were actively engaged. It helped students internalize concepts - making abstract concepts concrete. And, it actually reduced teaching time because students remembered more. Ask about the hypothesis story…

Engagement…

Teaching Millennial and Gen Z students everyday keeps me on top of classroom engagement strategies. They love learning by using the research informed methods that I used in the K-12 classroom. These strategies are increasing their behavioral engagement, emotional enjoyment, and learning as well. As a recent graduate told me, “Your classes always flew by, and I didn’t hardly have to study because of the way we learned.”

Should you purposefully use movement to teach?

Absolutely! Sitting still and listening puts your body in a resting state which lowers your alertness. Movement helps the brain wake up so students are ready to learn.
